This site along with its award winning podcast* is dedicated to the promotion of chili cooking and fun in Texas, and the promotion of Steve Heaser. If you have never heard of this "chili thing" most cookoffs are one- or two-day events. They are held around the world but the lion's share are in the United States and most of those are in Texas. There are cookoffs all year long, but it gets exciting during late summer/early fall when cooks are trying to get the last few points to qualify. (The chili year is from October 1 to September 30.)

If you are coming here from the Steve Crescenzo Communications site, (I was interviewed by him) please don't try to learn too much here. This is intended as fun. It is also to track the cooking and points of Steve, Jim, and Chris of South Side Foggy Mountain chili. (Well, not so much Jim or Chris). The photo above is from November 1, 2008, backstage after winning the one-person show division at the Terlingua International Chili Championship. The photo below is from 2007, with my 2nd place trophy pointing out me in the picture from the 2006 cookoff. Life imitating art, imitating life.

I started this site and podcast in 2005 as a way to spend excess income. Some days I just feel the need to run up the credit cards and pay only the interest on them. Sure I'll never catch up, but hey, it's the American dream! We all have to sacrifice for our art. I just wish I had worn different shirt from one year to the next.

You can listen to any episode under the ChiliPodCast menu option at the top, but the easiest way to hear each new episode is subscribe. It’s free and new episodes will be delivered to your iTunes when they are released. Subscribe in iTunes
